He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) from his office in Delhi on June 27, 2023, in connection with a money laundering case. Three days ago, the Education Bureau summoned him and subsequently arrested him. A number of First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered against the company and its directors in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Haryana. The allegations in these FIRs accuse the company of collecting funds from homebuyers but failing to deliver the promised apartments. According to the investigation, Supertech Group received funds from home buyers and loans from banks to build the apartments. However, the funds were allegedly misused to purchase land. The acquired land is then used as collateral to repay bank loans. ED’s investigation found that Supertech Group defaulted on payments to banks and financial institutions resulting in loans worth Rs 1,000 crore. Rs 1,500 crore turned into non-performing assets (NPA). Furthermore, on April 12, 2023, the ED attached property worth Rs 10 lakh. 40 crore, including 25 plots and buildings in Uttarakhand and Meerut Mall in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, belonging to Supertech and its directors. During his appearance before the court on June 28, 2023, the Ministry of Education accused him of misappropriating Rs. Rs 638 crore was collected from home buyers through bank loans. Instead of completing ongoing projects in Noida, the funds were allegedly used to purchase properties in Gurgaon at inflated prices. In addition, he allegedly spent Rs. 154 crore acquisition of ASP Sarin and Rs. 39 Crore to buy Palash Building Solutions. ED further stated that Rs. In 2013-14, Rs 444 crore was used to acquire a company called Sarv Realtors Private Limited. The ED requested that Arora be detained for 14 days for further investigation into the allegations.
