Rahul Subramanian started his career with Convonix Inc., Mumbai in July 2007 as Sales Manager. As Sales Manager, Rahul is primarily responsible for B2B end-to-end sales and after-sales customer service in the US and UK. He is also responsible for internet marketing services such as SEO, SEM, SMO and shopping cart development. He worked there for about a year and a half and then resigned. In February 2009, Rahul joined Bare Associates International, Mumbai as Business Development Manager, responsible for client acquisition and retention. He worked at the company until May 2009. Subsequently, he did a 3-month summer internship with Mahindra Retail Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore. During his internship, Rahul launched the Mom & Me loyalty program across all stores in India. After completing his internship, he joined Mahindra Retail Pvt. Ltd. as a management trainee. As part of his role, he is responsible for digital marketing and consumer connect for Mom & Me, Bangalore. A year later, he was promoted to the company’s e-commerce manager. As E-Commerce Manager, Rahul built and launched e-commerce channels for Mahindra Retail and also headed the digital marketing, business development and customer retention departments. He exited the company in June 2013. In July 2013, Subramanian joined Mahindra Rise, Mumbai as a manager, responsible for the corporate branding and digital marketing department. There, he was part of the team responsible for Mahindra Group’s parent brand. In 2015, when he went to watch a play starring Paresh Raval with his family, he received a text message with a job offer from Godrej. Although Rahul had been dying to take up the position (which was offered to him by Godrej) for years, he realized he was not cut out for the corporate world and turned it down.

However, he never considered stand-up comedy as a career option. While Rahul was working in Mahindra and Mahindra, he met Kumar Varun (solo comedian). A few months later, Rahul and Varun formed the comedy group Random Chikibum (another RCB). The two created a YouTube channel called Random Chikibum in July 2015 and began uploading their comedy videos on it.

The same year, YouTube announced OML’s Comedy Hunt, an online competition for emerging comedy creators, along with All India Bakchod Kanan Gill and Biswa Kalyan Rath. Based on a weekly competition format, contestants must create sketches based on specific themes such as news comedy and branded content, with weekly elimination rounds taking place. The final of the competition was held at the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Mumbai and out of the four finalists, Rahul and Varun’s RCB won. Speaking about winning the match, Rahul said in an interview:
After a long day at work I was mostly relieved that I didn’t have to write sketches late at night and it was fun that we had just won this award. We just had a lot of fun. “
Soon after winning the competition, Rahul received an invitation to work with artist management company Only Much Louder. He accepted the job and decided to give up his corporate job and pursue comedy as a full-time career option. While on Only Much Louder, Rahul Subramanian started working on YouTube’s daily comedy show The Laughter Game. He subsequently won several stand-up comedy competitions held by Virgin Pants and Canvas Laugh Club. Kal Main Udega is a one-hour solo, Rahul’s much loved and appreciated piece by Crowd, in which he engages in spontaneous and improvisational interactions with audiences in Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. The show was then made available to viewers on Amazon Prime Video.
Apart from this, Rahul has also appeared in Amazon Prime Video’s comedy shows Comicstaan (2018) and Comedy Premium League (2021). In 2018, he appeared in Amazon Prime Video’s fun game showdown Improv All Stars: Games Night. On January 17 of the same year, he performed in the stage play “Signature Start Up Master Class” and shared his confused journey towards comedy. He also appeared in MX Player’s Kiski Sarkar (2019). Rahul has also appeared in multiple episodes of All India Bakchod. He is associated with several comedy clubs such as That Comedy Club and Tuning Fork Comedy Club.

He also toured various cities in India for his mass production show You and Me. In 2023, Rahul appeared in the crowd-working special Rahul Talks to People, which aired on Amazon Prime Video. Produced by OML and directed by Biswa Kalyan Rath, this mass production features Rahul as a stand-up comedian delivering impromptu, unrehearsed conversations with 6 different audiences across 5 cities. The show’s audience ranges from marketing professionals to a group of friends. I know the lights, the audience, I’m here, I’m on stage, I’m doing what I love. This is the first 10 seconds. “
