IAS Ranbir Sharma was born on Monday, September 7, 1981 (39 years old in 2020) and his birthplace is Haryana. His star sign is Virgo. He studied for his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from MD University, Rohtak, Haryana. Later, he did his Bachelor’s degree in Education from Delhi University. Subsequently, he appeared for the Civil Services Examination and passed it.

After clearing the civil services examination and interview, he started training at LBSNAA Mussoorie on September 3, 2012 (Junior Level). On April 25, 2013, he was posted as Assistant Collector (Junior Level) in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. Subsequently, he served as SDO (Junior Level) in Kank, Chhattisgarh from August 14, 2014 to September 3, 2015. He was then posted as Additional Secretary (Junior Level) in the School Education Department, Raipur. On January 1, 2016, he was posted as the CEO of the Panchayats Department. In 2020, he was appointed as the fifth Collector of Surajpur, Chhattisgarh.

- In 2015, he was accused of accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a Patwari in Bhanupratappur, Chhattisgarh.
- In May 2021, Ranbir’s video went viral, in which he slapped a man who violated Covid-19 regulations and even threw his phone on the ground. Later, Ranbir Sharma apologized for his misbehavior through a video. He said,
The boy first said he was going to get vaccinated but the receipt he showed was not related to vaccination. He then said he was going to see his grandmother. I slapped him in the heat of the moment. I had absolutely no intention of disrespecting or demeaning the people in the video. Surajpur district and the entire state of Chhattisgarh are facing irreparable loss of life in this pandemic. All of us in the state government are working hard to resolve this issue.”
