Rani Mukerji was born on 21 March 1978 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India (45 years old as of 2023). She attended Maneckjee Cooper High School in Juhu, Mumbai and attended Mithibai College, Mumbai for her graduation. Despite coming from a family active in Bollywood, Rani was never interested in pursuing acting as a career. Rani is a trained Odissi dancer; she started dancing in the tenth grade. At the age of 16, she was approached by family friend Salim Khan to play the lead role in his film Aa Gale Lag Jaa. She declined the offer because her father did not want her to join the film industry at such a young age.
