Ranjana Deshmukh

Ranjana Deshmukh (1955-2000) was an Indian actress. She mainly works in Marathi film industry. She appeared in many popular Marathi films including Sushila (1978), Are Sansar Sansar (1981), Gupchup Gupchup (1983) and Zakhmi Wagin (1984). She died of cardiac arrest in Mumbai in 2000 at the age of 45.

Facts/Trivia

  • In 1987, Ranjana met with a car accident on her way to Bangalore to shoot the Hindi social drama Jhanjhaar. She lost both her legs and her left hand in the accident; however, she worked in the Marathi theater production “Fakt Ekdaach”.
  • On March 3, 2011, Zee Talkies paid tribute to her by showcasing her most watched movies. The Maharashtra government established an award in her memory.
  • She has worked with many famous actors and has worked with famous Marathi actors including Ashok Saraf, Avinash Masurekar, Shriram Lagoo, Kuldeep Pawar, Nilu Phule, etc.
  • She lives in Shivaji Park, Parel, central Mumbai.
