Rashmeet Kaur is an Indian singer-songwriter known for her covers of popular Punjabi ballads “Bajre Da Sitta”, “Buhe Bariyan” and “Ik Meri Aakh Kashni”.

Rashmit Kaur was born on Tuesday, March 8, 1994 (27 years old in 2021) in Punjab, India. She grew up in Delhi. She loved music from a young age and started singing at the age of five. It was her mother who introduced Rashmit to the world of music by teaching her Gurmat sangeet (Sikh religious songs) and harmonium lessons. In an interview, she shared her childhood memories and said,
I can’t reach the pump of the reed organ, but I’m still playing it.”
Later, she began her formal music training at Gandharva Mahavidyalaya in Delhi. At the same time, she continued to learn Gurmat sangeet with teacher Jasvinder Kaur. At the age of ten, she had the honor of performing in front of former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. She performed in many college festivals and also won the IIT Delhi classical music competition.

Rashmeet Kaur was born into a Sikh family in Punjab. Her mother’s name is Tajinder Kaur and her brother’s name is Simran Singh.
Profession
Her music journey began in 2012 when she participated in the singing reality show “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa”. In the show, she was among the top 40 contestants. Later, in the same year, she won the title of Sur Sartaj (2012). In 2013, she was among the top 10 contestants of the Punjabi singing reality show “Voice of Punjab Season 4”. Since then, she has participated in various stage shows, college live performances, corporate performances, etc. She has lent her voice to countless advertising songs. In 2015, she came into the limelight by participating in the show “Asian Singing Superstar”. In the show, she sang the Punjabi folk song “Jugni Ji”, which became a hit on the Internet.
In 2017, she was the voiceover singer for the song “Heer” in the Bollywood film “Phillauri”. In 2018, she released her first original song “Maati ki Gudiya” which aims to create awareness about child marriage. She rose to fame as the winner of Amazon’s “The Remix” (2018) along with producer Su Real. The music reality show had famous Indian singers Sunidhi Chauhan, Amit Trivedi and DJ Nucleya as judges. As part of the winners, Rashmeet and Su Real received a prize of Rs 50 lakh.
After her big win, she got an opportunity to work with DJ Nucleya for the songs “Mirza” and “Mahiya” from his 2019 album “Tota Myna”. In November 2020, she released the album “Manjh Muhabbat Teri”, which contained six Shabads (Sikh hymns). In January 2021, she released her debut album “Musafir”, which contained four songs based on the poems of Sufi masters Bulle Shah and Shah Hussain. Later, in the same year, she rose to fame by covering the song “Bajre Da Sitta”, a popular Punjabi folk song first sung by Surinder Kaur and Prakash Kaur.
In 2021, Rashmeet shot to fame with the song “Nadiyon Paar (Let the Music Play)”, which was recreated by composers Sachin-Jigar based on Shamur’s 2004 party song “Let the Music Play”.
