Machine Gun Kelly gets candid about his relationship with alcohol – and reveals he spent time in rehab last year.
During an appearance on the Bunnie Xo podcast Stupid blonde on Monday, Aug. 5, the “Emo Girl” musician, 34, opened up about his struggles with mental health and alcohol abuse, revealing on the episode that he’s “completely sober from everything.”
“I don’t drink anymore. I haven’t since last August,” said MGK, born Colson Baker. “That’s when I went to rehab for the first time.”
MGK says he previously abused alcohol, marijuana and pills such as hydrocodone, Percocet and Vyvanse.

Later in the episode, the musician also shared his gratitude for his partner Megan Fox, 38, who he said was instrumental in his recovery.
“Megan must have been a huge help in dealing with the kind of psychological withdrawal that comes with quitting,” MGK said.
“I still accept the fact that this journey will be difficult for me, but I accept it and forgive myself,” he explained. “I’m also very hard on myself, very self-deprecating. I’m just happy that I’ve been able to start feeling comfortable enough to show people who I am because I’ve kind of depended on my art to do that.”

The pair also talked about MGK’s recent collaboration with Bunnie’s husband Jelly Roll, titled “Lonely Road,” recalling how both she and Fox appeared in the music video alongside “KellyRoll,” as they called themselves.
According to Bunnie, she recently challenged the musician to a drinking contest against Jelly, one night after they finished shooting the “Lonely Road” music video – not knowing he was sober.
“It just kills me because I just know I’d fucking drink that man under the table,” MGK joked, to Bunnie’s laugh.

“When we were shooting ‘Lonely Road’… [Jelly Roll] rented a bowling alley and the drinks kept coming,” Baker continued. “That was probably the second night in this process that I’ve spent where I’ve ever asked [at the drinks]. It was probably just because of that ego place where I thought, ‘Jelly, I just want to drink you under the table’.”
– Then we showed up to set the same time the next day – he finished the story with a joke. “I saw his condition and I saw mine and I said, ‘Eh, I made the right choice.'”
