Due to her increasing popularity as a Bollywood actress, she had to drop out of school after two years. As a child, she wanted to be an IPS officer or a pilot. Tanden never wanted to be an actor. However, while she was interning at Genesis PR, she got a call from Shantanu Sheorey’s office saying they wanted to shoot a commercial for her. At the age of 15, she received a commercial for Sunsilk, which was her first project.

Raveena made her acting debut in 1991 with the Bollywood film Patthar Ke Phool.

- During the ongoing #MeToo movement in India, Raveena Tandon tweeted in support of the movement, following which many Twitter users linked her tweets to her past relationship with Akshay Kumar. However, she later lashed out at the Twitterati, saying she was tweeting not just because of her past life but because of what she saw happening to women in the industry.
- In 2018, when several farmers’ strikes were taking place across states, Raveena took to Twitter to say that anyone damaging public property and commodities should be arrested immediately. After her tweet, she was criticized for being insensitive and political. She immediately deleted her post and tweeted that she was not talking about farmers but anti-social people. She also accused the media of distorting her comments.
- In 2018, Raveena sparked controversy after she shot an advertisement in the “no-photography zone” of the Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha. The incident came into focus after a video of Raveena teaching beauty tips at the Lingaraj Temple in Odisha’s capital Bhubaneswar was uploaded on social media. The temple authorities filed an FIR against her.
