Ravindra Mahajani

Ravindra Mahajani is an Indian actor, director and producer who has worked in the Hindi and Marathi entertainment industry. He is known for his popular films such as Saat Hindustani (1969), Devta (1983), Mumbai Fauzdar (1984), Kalat Nakalat (1990) and Panipat (2019) famous for movies. He is the father of popular Marathi actor Gashmeer Mahajani. He died on July 14, 2023 in Pune, Maharashtra, India.

Ravindra Mahajani was born in 1949 in Belgaum, Bombay State, India (now Karnataka) (age 74; death). However, according to some sources, he was born in 1946 in Belgaum, Bombay Presidency, British India (now Karnataka, India) (age 77; at time of death). After spending a few years of his childhood in Belgaum, he moved with his family to Mumbai, where he grew up and completed his formal education. After completing his formal education, he started working as a taxi driver in Mumbai while starting auditions in the Marathi and Hindi entertainment industry.

He made his acting debut in the 1969 Bollywood film Saat Hindustani, in which he played a police inspector. In the film, he shared the stage with the famous Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan.

In 1983, he played an inspector named Rakesh in the film Be Aabroo. He landed a role in Kanoon Kanoon Hai, released in 1987. He co-starred with Juhi Chawla and Kumar Gaurav in the 1989 film “Goonj”. He played Denis Pereira in the film. In 2019, he played the role of Malharrao Holkar in Ashutosh Gowariker’s epic war film Panipat; this film was his last film.

In 1998, he appeared in the TV series “Teesra Dola”. In the 2001 comedy film Dekhni Baiko Namyachi, Ravindra Mahajani played a character named Hindurao Patil. In 2011, he played the role of Nageshrao (Aaba) Jahagirdar in the TV series Arundhati. In 2015, he played the role of a captain in the film Kaay Raav Tumhi. Ravindra Mahajani was arrested by police in Mumbai in 2003 for fraudulent activities. Anil Damle, a partner at Saraswati Cinema, filed a First Information Report (FIR) in 2002 stating that Ravindra and Anil had reached an agreement. According to the agreement, Ravindra shall pay Anil Rs. His film Satte Sathi Kahihi was screened for a month (four weeks) by 75,000 people at Prabhat Cinemas operated by Saraswati Cinemas. The agreement further stipulates that fees collected from ticket sales will be deducted from this fee. If there is excess money, it will be given to Mahajani, but if there is a deficit, he will be responsible for paying Damle. Four weeks later, it was discovered that Mahajani owed Damle Rs. 80,000. When Mahajani gave Anil a check, the check bounced. In January 2003, Mahajani was released on bail by a Mumbai court after posting a personal bond of Rs. Paid $15,000 to Maharashtra State Court.

Ravindra Mahajani passed away on July 14, 2023 due to unknown reasons at his apartment in Xrbia Housing Society, Ambi village, Talegaon Dabhade district, Pune, Maharashtra. Pune police reported that Mahajani’s body was found in his rented apartment after neighbors informed authorities about a strong smell coming from his apartment. Mahajani lived in a rented apartment for about eight to nine months and recently underwent surgery that limited his mobility, authorities said. They also mentioned that he died two to three days before he was found. Speaking about the matter in an interview, the police said:

We received calls from neighbors in the apartment where Mahajani lives alone, telling us his house was reeking. We got to the scene and opened the door to the apartment to find him dead. It is suspected that he died three days ago. ”
