Now Farrell’s wife Etty Lau has released a lengthy statement on Instagram in defense of her husband, slamming his bandmates.
She said her husband suffered from voice problems and felt his bandmates were suffocating him with their instruments, “losing him”.
Farrell’s wife of 22 years said: “There was obviously a lot of tension and animosity between the members… the magic that made the band so dynamic.
“Perry’s frustration grew night after night, he felt the volume on stage was extremely loud and his voice was drowning out the band.

“Perry suffered from tinnitus and sore throat every night.
“But when the crowd in the front row started heckling Perry, swearing that the band was planning too loud and they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost.”
She also said the band started playing Ocean before Farrell was ready and ended up “screaming just to be heard”.
Lau said “Eric Avery won the fight,” after the bassist stepped in to restrain Farrell.
“While Dave was holding Perry at arm’s length to de-escalate the situation…Eric walked up to Perry, backstage, in the dark, behind Dan, headbutted Perry and punched him three times in the stomach.”
Lau said her husband was “a crazed beast for the next half hour” and had a breakdown, crying backstage.
“Eric, well he either didn’t understand what de-escalation meant or he took advantage of the situation and threw in some cheap shots against Perry,” she added.
The clip shows Farrell yelling into his microphone on stage before screaming at Navarro and appearing to shout “Fuck you!”, lunging at him.
He then approaches his bandmate as Navarro places a hand on his chest to try and hold him back.
As Farrell yells in his face, he raises his hand and deflects Navarro’s hand, causing Navarro to stumble backwards.
A backstage crew member quickly rushes toward the chaos and tries to restrain Farrell.
The singer then bends over and sinks to the floor, fighting off four men who try to keep him still.
Navarro, still clutching his guitar, calmly walks to the front of the stage – where the lights are now dimmed – and puts his instrument down.
He bends down to interact with fans as the crew and bassist Eric Avery have to drag Farrell off the stage.
Navarro looked confused as Farrell confronted him during a concert in Boston on Friday night.
The band was playing the hit Ocean Days when Farrell attacked.
Fans said tensions ran high during the full set, with eyewitnesses recalling Farrell yelling at Navarro during Mountain Song.
The breakup caused the show to end abruptly.
After Farrell was removed, Navarro, Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins gathered on stage and hugged each other.
They put up peace signs and waved to the cheering crowd.
Jane’s Addiction are currently on their first tour in 15 years, which is scheduled to last until mid-October.
Some loyal fans took to social media about the disastrous performance, sharing fears that it could be the end of the band.
One wrote “This must have been the last day of J Addiction”.
“Well, it looks like the band won’t be getting back together,” said someone else.
“That was wild. Kids, let this be a lesson to you…don’t take drugs and the anger will eat you up inside.”
And someone else from the concert chimed in: “I was there. The crowd was stunned. Half p****d the show ended early and half excited that we might have seen the last Jane’s A show ever.”
