Genzel received his Ph. He received his doctorate in physics from the Universities of Freiburg and Bonn in 1978. Later that year, he completed his doctorate at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy. PhD thesis in radio astronomy. He later worked at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge. He was elected a scientific member of Max-Planck-Gesellschaft in 1986. He conducted a study on gravitational redshift with his team of researchers. Reinhard Genzel found three flares at the center of the galaxy in 2018 and published a report describing nearby observations as well as the glow.
