Reggiani announced his candidacy for the Wisconsin Senate seat on August 8, 2023, becoming the first Republican to challenge incumbent Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin. The Wisconsin Senate primary is scheduled to be held in the first half of 2024. Baldwin was the first openly LGBT woman to be elected to the House of Representatives in 1999 and the Senate in 2013.
