Renée Zellweger's Bridget Jones Is a Single Mom Going on Dates with Leo Woodall in Mad About the Boy Trailer

Bridget Jones opens her diary once more.

Universal Pictures and Peacock released a trailer for Bridget Jones: Crazy for a Boythe fourth film in Renée Zellweger’s romantic comedy series. The two-time Oscar winner, 55, reunites with series mainstay Hugh Grant in the role of Daniel Cleaver in the new film.

The trailer shows Bridget struggling with life as a widow and mother of two young children, years after the death of series favorite Mark (Colin Firth). As Bridget begins to make her way back outside, she begins to bond with two new men in her life, a younger man played by Leo Woodall (White lotus), as well as her son’s science teacher, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor.

“Bridget returns to work and even tries dating apps, where she is soon pursued by a dreamy and enthusiastic younger man,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “Now juggling work, home, and romance, Bridget struggles with the judgment of perfect moms at school, cares for Billy as he struggles with his father’s absence, and engages in a series of awkward interactions with her son’s brainy kid—a flawed science teacher.”

Universal first announced that Zellweger will reprise her title role as Bridget Jones in the new film based on Helen Fielding’s books back on April 9.

Crazy about a boy marks the fourth film in the series. It is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by the writer Fielding from 2013, directed by Michael Morris. Isla Fisher also joins the cast as a series newcomer alongside Ejiofor, 47, and Woodall, 28. Emma Thompson, who wrote the script and appeared in 2016 Baby Bridget Jonesshe also reprises her role as Dr. Rawlings in the new film.

Grant, 63, told PEOPLE in April that the new film is “very moving but also funny,” and noted author Fielding based the story on her own experience “raising two children alone after her husband died.” “And so Bridget is raising two children and wondering if she should ever go back to relationships,” he said. – That is a very good scenario.

Bridget Jones: Crazy for a Boy begins streaming exclusively on Peacock on February 13, 2025.
