Kyle Richards and her The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills The costars were upset after the news of her separation from her husband Maurici Umanski reached the public.
On the season finale of the hit Bravo series — which was taped in early July of last year after PEOPLE exclusively confirmed the couple’s split — Richards’ co-stars Dorit Kemsley, Annemarie Wiley, Crystal Kung Minkoff and Sutton Stracke reacted to the shocking news.
During a FaceTime with her husband Paul “PK” Kemsley, the 47-year-old Beverly Beach designer shared, “Kyle has never, ever given any indication that they’re breaking up,” which PK called “pretty fucked up.”
Sutton, 52, noted that “this didn’t happen overnight and the truth is we’ve always known about the problems in her marriage leading up to this,” before listing hints that the pair would go their separate ways. then added, “I think Kyle lied to us the whole time. … This is sss. The whole thing.”

After the couple released a joint statement on social media about their divorce, The Halloween is ending actress, 55, reflected on how each member of the family coped one day in light of the split becoming public.
“When the PEOPLE article came out, I was with Mo and the girls and all our phones just started blowing up,” she recalled. “Mo was really focused on who told the story, and I was more focused on how it affected all of us. I saw Alexia start to cry. We got in the car, all of us, and it was so weird… as if no one knew what to do or say.”
“I felt like my whole life ended at that moment. Life as I knew it,” she added, choking up.

After the news, Erika Girardi apologized to Kyle for not being “the most attentive friend,” but Kyle said there was “nothing to watch because we handled things privately.”
“I think the hardest part of what we’re going through is that there’s not one big big thing. That’s the hardest part for me,” she admitted. “There are these things that I needed and wanted more of in my marriage that I just can’t get. And, since that article came out, I see, you know, ‘Oh, it’s obviously because Mo cheated,’ or ‘Now, Kyle cheated. ‘.”
When Erika asked “what’s the truth about that,” Kyle said, “There’s literally nothing with anyone else. This is really just about Mo and me. It’s not about our family, it’s not about the outside family, it’s not about the other person on his side or mine. This is all about Mo and me.”

Kyle added that her husband always wanted to keep up the look despite their recent marital struggles.
“I think he’s more like a person who likes to pretend that everything is fine… When we first met, we were really opposites,” she explained. “Complete opposites, and it worked. You know, I’d always joke that if it wasn’t for me, he’d be dead, because I’m looking after him.”
She continued: “And if it wasn’t for him, I would never have taken a risk in my life. And it worked. Also, we’ve always grown because we’ve been together since our early 20s… That’s really admirable and it’s always been something I’m very proud of.
But she said through tears: “Right now I’m not proud, because it’s a disappointment for me, for him, for the children, for people who don’t even know us.”

A week later, Kyle and Mauricio were still dealing with the fallout from their public divorce after 27 years of marriage.
“Things have been a lot more awkward with me and Mo since the article came out, I think because it made it a lot more real,” she said. “I feel like my kids were actually living a fairy tale, but then, I felt like the article came out, they thought the rug had been pulled out because things were worse than we thought.”
The couple decided it was time to “clear up” what was going on with their daughters. Kyle told the girls, “I think the most important thing is that you know that we didn’t tell you everything because we were trying to protect you. And then, all of a sudden, blindsided by that public news and then you don’t know about it, it’s probably hard.”
She added: “I just wanted to make sure we’re open and that you know what we’re going through and see if there are any questions. I want you to know that we haven’t discussed divorce.”

RHOBH: Kyle Richards’ daughters may be the reason she decided to leave a marriage that no longer makes her happy
However, Kyle later admitted that there wasn’t much hope for the future between her and Buying Beverly Hills star, sharing in the confessional, “I realized that, you know, there’s a good chance we’re not going to end up together.”
When asked by the producer what happened, Kyle replied, “There were things that happened that made me lose my confidence and I couldn’t recover from…. I just want to be at peace wherever I am because I really didn’t have that . Am I done? It’s over.” She started to cry.
The episode ended with a title card revealing that although Kyle has “reconciled” with her sister Kathy Hilton, “Kyle and Mauricio continue to live their lives apart.”
