The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills the Bozom Saint John star recently underwent surgery to take control of her reproductive health.
Addressing her RHOBH actress Dorit Kemsley on After the showthe former Netflix marketing director, 47, revealed that she had multiple fibroids removed, partly in hopes of one day having a child with boyfriend Keely Watson.
“The fibroid surgery was so, it was a scary thing, because who wants to have surgery?” Saint John said during a conversation with Kemsley, 48.

For the businesswoman, the operation was not terrible, but was done out of an abundance of caution.
“Honestly, you know, when I talked about my fibroids with my doctor, it wasn’t a life-threatening situation anyway where it’s like, ‘Okay, look, if you don’t have them, this is going to happen to you,'” Saint John explained.

“I know there are a lot of women who have very severe symptoms from their fibroids. I was not one of those people. However, they were big, they were growing. And I just felt like, why wait until some other point where I don’t have a choice to do it?” she said.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, “Uterine fibroids are a common type of noncancerous tumor that can grow in and on your uterus.” Symptoms include pain and heavy vaginal bleeding.
Depending on the location of uterine fibroids, it can sometimes be difficult or impossible for a woman to bear children.
Fibroids are very common and usually occur in women between the ages of 30 and 50. Myomectomy is a surgical procedure that can remove them.

Saint John told her colleague that she and Watson had been talking about having kids lately, noting that he doesn’t have kids and would like to have up to three of his own. The Bravo star is already mom to daughter Lael Saint John, who she shares with her late husband Peter Saint John.
“And then on top of that, again, it’s like I’m not getting any younger. If I’m having these conversations with Keely,” she said. “And I truly believe we have the opportunity to create a bigger family, so why not do it right now?”

She added: “I have no chance with fibroids [at conceiving]. Also, I want a chance. I want to try it. So then I have to decide to do it.”
Kemsley noted that during the Saint John process, she discovered that she had more fibroids than she originally thought.
“Wasn’t it about 12?” – asked the fashion designer.
Saint John replied, “Yes, and one of them was the size of a grapefruit.”

The businesswoman isn’t the first housewife to open up about her experience with fibroids — both Atlanta’s Cynthia Bailey and New York’s Ubah Hassan discussed their fibroids on their shows.
Black women are more likely to develop fibroids than other races, according to the Mayo Clinic.
