RHOSLC’s Monica Garcia Shares Where Her Divorce Stands After Her Affair and Excommunication (Exclusive)

Monica Garcia is open about the end of her marriage to husband Mike.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star, 40, exclusively told PEOPLE during BravoCon 2023 that the couple’s divorce was finalized “a week and a half ago.” She added, “I’m in Vegas — like, what a way to celebrate.”

The Bravo star was coy when asked if she was dating anyone new, saying: “I don’t know.”

Garcia added that he doesn’t have a guy when it comes to dating, noting, “For me, it’s more of a relationship.”

The divorce news comes after Garcia opened up about her Mormon upbringing on the September episode RHOSLC. Commentator Heather Gay revealed the shocking reason she was excommunicated from the church: “Because I fucked my brother-in-law for 18 months.”

Gay – who also left the Mormon church – was stunned to hear this and asked how the affair had been uncovered. Garcia said she eventually confessed to her bishop because she “felt guilty” — only to be immediately “rejected from everything and everyone.” (In contrast, Garcia argued that her brother-in-law—whom she clarified is her wife’s sister’s husband—reportedly suffered no consequences.)

“Honestly and truly one of the worst experiences of my life,” Gayu said, fighting back tears.

“You will be shocked when you discover the real reasons why we are actually divorcing now because it is not because of an affair,” she explained.

“I hope I get a chance to clear things up and explain the timelines, but the people in my life already know about this,” she added. “They already knew about the affair, they already knew about the excommunication and we all already had time to process this information.”

“It’s something I’m telling these women for the first time, but it wasn’t something I was nervous to say because, as you’ll see over the course of the season and hopefully at the reunion, you’ll be able to put the pieces together and I understand more why it’s easier for me to argue.”
