In HBO’s House of the Dragon, actor Rhys Ifans portrays Ser Otto Hightower. Ser Otto Hightower, Hand of the King, is Prince Daemon Targaryen’s greatest rival in the series and plays an important role. Ifans, who portrays the intriguing role, is a well-known Welsh actor who has starred in films such as Notting Hill and The Amazing Spider-Man.

Rhys Ifans starred in a number of memorable films.
Rhys Ifans was born in Haverfordwest, Wales on 22 July 1967 to parents Beti-Wyn and Eurwyn Evans. His parents were also educators. Ifans grew up in the Welsh county of Pembrokeshire. Ifans was interested in performing from a young age and is said to have taken acting lessons at Theatr Clwyd. After that, he graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
Rhys Ifans began his career in theatre. He experimented with television before turning to cinema, starring in the comedy series Spatz, Trial & Retribution and Screen Two. He rose to fame as Spike in Julie Roberts and Hugh Grant’s Notting Hill, which is widely regarded as one of the most iconic romcoms of all time. He has starred in a number of notable films over the years, including The Amazing Spider-Man, Hannibal Rising, and The Phantom of the Opera, to name a few.
Ser Otto Hightower, played by Rhys Ifans in the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, is a complicated character. Hightower took over as Hand of the King after Baelon Targaryen died. Alicent Hightower, Hightower’s daughter, is another complex character who will likely be one of the main antagonists of the series. Hightower’s fierce rivalry with Prince Daemon Targaryen is one of the most fascinating components of the plot. House of the Dragon viewers can expect Ifans to deliver a spectacular performance.
