Rick, who appears to be on a mission to destroy walkers, leans against a brick wall with a bloody face. As the scene cuts to a shot of him holding a dead cell phone with Michonne’s face etched into the screen, he declares, “I’ve got to keep trying. I’m not going to stop, I’m getting there. I’m going home.”

As for Michonne, she continues her quest, encountering abandoned cruise ships and encountering kindred spirits along the way. “It’s been so long,” she cries.

Like Rick, Michonne owns a matching smartphone with an engraving of two people and his name in Japanese writing. As she holds her device, one of her companions translates: “You know what it says, Japanese? Have a little more faith.”

Along with the lovers’ quest to reunite, the trailer also teases Rick’s fight with the Civil Republic army he’s seemingly forced to join.

“What makes you even think I’m going to go along with all this?” exclaims CRM Leaser Major General Beale (Terry O’Quinn). Over scenes of soldiers and battle artillery proving his military prowess, Beale replies, “Because everything is going to change.”

Elsewhere, Michonne deals with her own set of problems. When a yellow gas bomb detonates in an abandoned town, she screams, “Run!” before the fumes can engulf her and her companions.

As the trailer ends with scenes of car chases, helicopters firing missiles at buildings, and more zombies killed, Rick ominously concludes, “This broken world will be put back together.”
