Rob Thomas Documents Bandmate Playing Curb Your Enthusiasm Theme As Woman Who Was ‘Screaming Racist Things’ Is Escorted Off Flight

Matchbox Twenty frontman Rob Thomas and drummer Neal Daniels were on the plane when the passenger was escorted off the plane recently. Daniels played Curb your enthusiasm theme song on his phone during the incident, as seen in an Instagram video they shared on Sept. 23.

In the headline, Thomas claimed the woman was “screaming racist things” at Daniels and trying to “open the plane door while in the air.”

The plane “made an emergency landing” and the passenger was escorted off the plane, Thomas wrote. As the woman walked past with security personnel, Daniels played the theme song of the HBO comedy, and was met with laughter by fellow passengers. Thomas called Daniels’ reaction “perfection.”

On Wednesday, September 25, Daniels posted an Instagram Story screenshot of the post’s metrics, which showed the video had more than 2.15 million views and nearly 115,700 interactions.

Several people commented on Daniels’ comical response. “As a flight attendant, I would not have been able to keep calm if I had been there. Well played 😂,” one user wrote.

Another user wrote: “A real ‘everyone loved that’ moment caught on camera lmao.”

“That song was created for this moment. Perfection. 😂😂😂,” another user added. Others shared GIFs of Curb your enthusiasm star Larry David says, “Pretty, pretty good.”

Curb your enthusiasm ended in April after 12 seasons on HBO. The improvisational sitcom starred David, 76, as an exaggerated version of himself, who would find himself thrown into the mix of catastrophic events triggered by his trivial observations and reactions. The series first premiered in 2000, went on hiatus in 2011 after its eighth season, and resumed in 2017.
