“For those of you who don’t know about Poupette and Walle, here’s a little background story…

“Poupette has been with me for 18 years. From the day we met, she was my soul mate.

“I was a single girl, and suddenly, with Poupette, I became a ‘single mother.’

“Everyone who knows me called Poupette ‘my shadow’…because wherever I went, she was right behind me.

“It’s strange how you can share so much with a being who can’t communicate in the same language.

“But that’s the beauty of unconditional love… it doesn’t need words.”

Robbie Williams pays tribute to his dog

Ayda explained that Robbie immediately took Poupette as his dog and fell in love with her “instantly”.

“When I met Rob 6 months later, I told him Poupette and I were a deal,” she continued.

“Rob had 3 large dogs at the time and I assumed he would have balked at the idea of having to take a tiny, white, fluffy dog out into the street, shouting ‘Poupette’ in a Northern English accent.

“But Rob fell for her immediately and suddenly this big tattooed, pop star … became a little fluffy dog type.”

The couple then decided to add another dog to their family – by introducing Walle.

“When things got serious a year later, we decided to expand the family and get a dog together,” she said.

“The day we met Walle, there was no doubt that he was the guy for us.

“He petted us and kissed us and chased us around.

“From that day forward, on the 4th of July, we officially became a blended family.”

Their four-legged animals even played a big role on the couple’s wedding day, when they tied the knot in 2010.

She added: “Two years later, when Rob ad I decided to get married, we knew exactly who we wanted in our bridal party… our dogs.

“Poupette, of course, was my godmother, and Walle was Rob’s godfather.

“Over the years, Poupette & Walle have been there for the birth of all 4 children, multiple trips, countries and all the ups and downs that life has thrown our way in the past 14 years since we said ‘I do’.”

Ayda said Poupette and Walle were their last two surviving pets.

She added: “As time went on, we had to say a sad goodbye to each of those bridesmaids and best men…

“Miraculously, Poupette & Walle survived.

“Rob and I recently renewed our marriage vows.

“There are a lot of things we’re dealing with right now (more on that another time) and we wanted to celebrate what was good in our lives; family and love.

“Just like 14 years ago… Poupette was my godmother and Walle was Rob’s man.”

Ayda went on to say that this will be the first time she won’t have her “shadow or little furry friend to meet her at the door.”

The star admitted that she will grieve and “cry” for the next few days, adding that she “loves them with all her heart.”

Her fans were devastated by the loss.

One wrote: “They are together and have found peace. I will love them until the end of time. Thank you Poupette and Walle for all the joy you have brought us over the years. I am so grateful.”

Another posted: “My heart breaks for all of you.”

A third commented: “Oh that’s so sad, we’re really going to miss her! Sending you all the biggest hugs!”
