Robert Vadra was born on May 18, 1969 in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, into a Christian family (age as of 2024: 55). His family originally belonged to Sialkot in the Pakistani state of Punjab. His father migrated to India during the partition of India. His father, Rajendra Vadra, ran a brass and wooden handicraft business in Moradabad. His mother, Maureen, was of Scottish descent. Robert was educated at the British School in New Delhi.

In order to marry Priyanka, Robert had to convert to Hinduism. Robert and Priyanka were classmates and first met at a friend’s house. They fell in love with each other and got married. Initially, both families were not ready for the marriage, but due to Priyanka Gandhi’s stubbornness, they had no choice but to agree.
The couple has two children: son Rehan (born in 2000) and daughter Miraya (born in 2002).
Congress president Rahul Gandhi is his brother-in-law.

- On September 1, 2018, an FIR was lodged against Robert Vadra and Bhupinder Singh Hooda (former Haryana Chief Minister) at Kherki Daula police station in Gurgaon, alleging irregularities in land deals in Gurgaon.
