Robin Thicke Says 1 Masked Singer Contestant Gives Their 'Best Performance Yet' in Show's Semifinals

As the clock ticks down on season 11, semi-finalists Clock, Goldfish and Gumball have made their final bids for a spot in Masked singer finals.

They opened the concert on Wednesday, May 15, with a group performance of the song “Higher Love” by Kyga and Whitney Houston. Host Nick Cannon announced that Clock, Goldfish, and Gumball would be back together at the end of the show for a three-way Battle Royale. He also shared that judges Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Rita Ora and Robin Thicke could use the panel’s Amazon Prime package delivery button again to get an extra clue for one contestant.

Gumball took the stage first.

“Becoming Gumball allowed me to tap into my roots and do something I’ve loved since the beginning: singing,” Gumball said in his hint pack. “Music was my first love, but when I moved to Hollywood, I had to give up that part of myself to be taken seriously.”

Gumball mentioned “quarterback” and said he continued Masked singer because, “I want my kids to see that their dad never said no to adventure.”

Gumball tackled OneRepublic’s “I Lived”.

“I just thought it was your best performance yet,” Thicke, 47, said.

Each contestant received a super clue after the performance, and Gumball’s arrived in the form of a cheerleader who led the crowd in chanting his name.

“Hearing those germs reminded me of the fight that changed this Gumball’s life forever,” Gumball explained.

Taylor Kitsch, James Van Der Beek, and Jason Sudeikis appeared as options for Gumball’s identity.

Then it was time for Clock to take the stage.

“I’m not as young as I used to be,” Clock admitted in her clue packet. She added that she wants to compete further Masked singer to “introduce myself to a whole new generation”.

“Dancing in the Street” strap watch by Martha and the Vandellas.

“You’re putting yourself at the very top,” Thicke said.

The men in black brought out the gold bullion for Clock’s super clue. “This isn’t the first stage show I’ve done, and every show has been pure gold, baby,” Clock explained.

The judges thought Clock could be Roberta Flack, Thelma Houston or Stephanie Mills. McCarthy, 51, pressed the Prime delivery button and received a pair of rollerskates, which made her certain Clock was 87-year-old Flack.

A goldfish swam next.

“Fame was never my goal,” said the Goldfish in her clue packet. “I honestly thought I would be a pediatrician. But I loved performing. I just didn’t realize that in order to do what I love, I would have to live in a pond, and that made me retreat and be a lot more private. Becoming a Goldfish unleashed a really fun, goofy side of me that, frankly, only a few people in my life really get to see and it was a lot of fun to let loose.”

Orange Fish covered Alanis Morrissette’s “You Oughta Know”.

As a super track of Goldfish, the Mouse from season 10, also known as Demi Lovato, came out.

“It’s a real blast from the past because me and Mouse, we go way, way back in time,” Goldfish said.

The committee suspected that the Goldfish could be Hilary Duff, Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale.

Each contestant had one more chance to wow the audience and judges during the highly-anticipated three-way Battle Royale in which each celebrity went undercover to put their take on Kelly Clarkson’s “A Moment Like This.”

The studio audience and judges cast their votes for their favorite performance of the night, and whoever received the fewest votes would be unmasked. Cannon, 43, revealed that Clock was going home, and Ora’s guess about Thelma Nelson appeared under the antique clock.
