Roderick The youngest of five children of Robert Joseph Stewart and Elsie Rebecca Gilbart, David Stewart was born on 10 January 1945 at 507 Archway Road in Highgate, North London. His father was Scottish and was a master builder in Leith, Edinburgh, while Elsie was English and grew up in Upper Holloway, North London. The couple, who married in 1928, lived in Scotland and had two sons and two daughters.

His performance at Highgate Primary School was average and he failed the eleven plus test. He then went to William Grimshaw Secondary Modern School in Muswell Hill, which later became Fortismere School. The family lived above a newsagent’s which his father bought on Archway Road after he retired from the construction industry. Stewart’s primary pastime was model railroading.
Career
Stewart delivered newspapers and worked in the family business. The short time he spent working as a laborer at Highgate Cemetery later formed another chapter in his life story. He worked at North Finchley Funeral Home, building fences and making signs. In 1961 he visited Denmark Street with The Raiders and got the chance to perform for the famous record producer Joe Meek. However, Meek abruptly ended the session. Stewart moved into a beatnik houseboat in Shoreham-by-Sea and developed a love of left-wing politics and the beatnik lifestyle.

Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster are married and have one son. Following the incident at the Florida hotel, Stewart and his 39-year-old son Sean were taken into custody in January 2020, and Stewart was charged with aggravated assault. He was scheduled to appear in court on February 5. Guy Fronstin, Stewart’s defense attorney, informed Judge Augusto Bonavita in October 2020 that he had spoken with the prosecution and that the matter was unlikely to go to trial.
