During his childhood, Rohit was very interested in boxing and would watch movies about boxing and WWE matches with his brother. When he was ten years old, his father enrolled him in Baba Ganath Boxing Academy in Munirka. Within a few months, Rohit lost interest in boxing and started training in swimming. Later, while studying in school, Rohit was bullied by his seniors. So he decided to train boxing again. During his school days, Rohit Tokas started his boxing career and participated in various boxing competitions such as the Young Men’s National Boxing Championship (2010), the Cuban Youth Olympic Games (2011) and the 1st Dr BR Ambedkar All India Men’s Boxing Championship (2012). In 2013, Rohit participated in the China Men’s Boxing Open held in Guiyang, China. In 2015, Rohit decided to change his category from 60kg to 64kg to participate in further boxing competitions. In 2019, Rohit participated in the 2019 Asian Amateur Boxing Championships in Thailand.
In 2019, Rohit participated in the 4th Elite Men’s National Boxing Championship held in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh.
Rohit participated in the All India Railway Championship 2022, where he defeated Ishmit Singh, representing Central Railway, with a unanimous decision score of 5-0. In an interview, Rohit spoke about his win against Ishmit and said:
This is a big year for me as we have both the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games and this win will definitely boost my morale, make me more confident and push me to train harder. ”
In August 2022, Rohit participated in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. In the men’s welterweight 63.5kg-67kg category, Rohit defeated Niue’s Matafa Ikinofo Xavier in the quarter-finals, but lost 2 in the Commonwealth Games semi-finals. -3 lost to Zambian player Stephen Zimba. 2022.

- In 2018, Rohit suffered ligament and right knee injuries that prevented him from participating in the 2019 World Championships and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Talking about his injury in an interview, Rohit said,
“I injured my ligament in 2018, which caused me to miss the World Championships. Then I injured my ligament again in 2019. I have ligament injuries in both knees. The one on the left was during the India Open and the one on the right was during the Nationals. My injury was so serious that the doctor told me that if you play ball, your whole knee will be injured.”
