The star once said that a fourth film in the series is unlikely to happen.

During a Reddit Ask Me Anything session, Rowan shared, “I doubt it, but thank you so much for hinting that you’d like to see another one. But at the same time…never say never”.

And since then, fans have been speculating if Rowan will return to the famous role.

But now the good news is, as reported, a fourth Johnny English movie is in the works.

According to Screen Daily, filming will begin this summer.

Production should begin in June in Malta and Great Britain.

Once again, Rowan will return as a clueless but lovable secret agent with even more outrageous disguises, ridiculous gadgets and side-splitting comedy.

However, the plot is still a secret.

Like the previous films, this one is also produced by Working Title Films, a subsidiary of Universal Pictures.

Atkinson, Ben Miller, Natalie Imbruglia and John Malkovich starred in the first Johnny English film in 2003.

Johnny English Reborn followed in 2011, with Gillian Anderson, Dominic West, Rosamund Pike and Daniel Kaluuya joining Atkinson in the cast.

Meanwhile, in June 2022, Rowan revealed a surprising transformation ahead of his Netflix series The Man vs. The Bee.

And in May 2020, the Mr Bean actor starred in the ITV drama, Maigret Lays a Trap.

In the drama, Rowan plays the prominent Jules Maigret.

Maigret is an adaptation of the books by Georges Simenon and follows Atkinson’s Jules Maigret as he solves crimes in 1950s France.
