This week Netflix will premiere a new movie called Royalteen. Royalteen is a Norwegian film directed by Emilie Beck and Per-Olav Srensen that revolves around an incredibly dramatic teenage romance that follows Prince Karl Johan (Mathias Storhi) and newcomer Lena (Ines Hysaeter Asserson) as they negotiate the tricky world of love and class differences.
The film will be released overseas on August 17, 2022. Although Netflix has not officially announced a release date, movies on Netflix usually start around 3 a.m. EST in the United States. The film, written by Ester Grenersen, is based on the popular book Arvingen by Randi Fuglehaug and Anna Gunn Halvorsen. The series was created by Janne Hjeltnes of The Global Ensemble Drama.

Promo for Royalteen: Forbidden Love and Deeper Connections
The plot of Royalteen focuses on the growing romance between the main character Lena and the future king Karl Johan, a high-class socialite from the busy world of media. The two characters of the series come from very different cultures and have quite different personalities, which creates latent tension in many situations. The Royalteen tease sees Karl enter the school, drawing the attention of everyone in the room. He enters and sits next to Lena, a new student at the school. They start a discussion that quickly becomes lively and entertaining. There is clearly some romantic tension in the air.
According to Daily Research Plot, the official synopsis for the film is as follows:
“Lena is well aware that seeing and hooking up with the heir to the kingdom could put them both in an untenable position, and she hasn’t told Kalle or anyone else about her even bigger secret, which is also why she’s drifted away from her nation. Will her huge secret cause a big problem or will we witness a happy ending for the prince and the commoner?”
The problem with Karl and Lena’s relationship is quite obvious. Since they are from two different worlds, it will be difficult for them to maintain a relationship, especially if they have to think about the future. Apart from social differences, Prince Karl Johan is a regular target of controversy and internet debates. Unbeknownst to the heir to the throne, Lena is an avid writer who publishes articles about him on her blog. Prince Karl is also unaware that simple Lena has many secrets of her own.
Veslemy Mrkrid, Sunniva Lind Hilund, Petter Width Kristiansen, Filip Bargee Ramberg, Martin Grid Toennesen, Elli Rhiannon Müller Osborne, Christian Ruud Kallum, Amalie Sporsheim, Pl Richard Lunderby, Carmen Andrea Hilund and Vr Srensen Grnlie also appear in the film. On August 17, 2022, Netflix will release Royalteen. While no official time has been set, the film will likely debut around 12am PT or 3am ET. The official movie airtime will vary depending on the time zones in each location.
