Saba Azad is an actress who has played many roles in real life. Apart from being a Bollywood actress, she is also a theater director and musician. She started her career at the age of 18 with her debut film Dil Kabaddi (2008) and has come a long way in the industry from playing different roles to singing in several Bollywood films.

Saba Azad was born Saba Singh Grewal on November 1, 1990 in Delhi, India (age 31; as of 2021). She has been interested in dance and acting since she was a child, and after graduating, she began her journey as a theater artist, pursuing a career in acting. She is the niece of the great street theater artist and director Safdar Hashmi. Influenced by theater from an early age, she studied drama from an early age and even performed with Safdar Hashmi’s troupe Jana Natya Manch. She has received professional training in Odissi dance, classical ballet, jazz dance, Latin dance and other dance forms. She traveled with Odissi maestro Kiran Segal and performed not only in India but also in Canada, Nepal and the UK. Over the years, Saba has created several television commercials for brands like Cadbury, Maggi, Tata Sky, Google, Vodafone, Nestlé, and more. Her film journey began when she played the lead role in the short film Guroor directed by Ishaan Nair.

After completing her studies, Saba started her acting career as a theater artist and played the lead role in the short film Guroor directed by Ishaan Nair. She made her Bollywood debut when she played the role of Raga in the film Dil Kabbadi (2008). Thereafter, she played the role of Preity Sen in the film “Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge” (2011).   • On March 26, 2017, Saba uploaded a photo on her Instagram in which she mentioned that her original name was Saba Singh Grewal, but she chose to change her name to For Saba Azad. She does this to get rid of all the labels people give people. She was heavily criticized by people on social media for changing her name.
  • Saba Azad performs during the anti-CAA protests in Shaheen Bagh, New Delhi, January 2020. She sang the song “Tu Zinda Hai” by the Indian People’s Drama Society. She also recited a poem “Bol Ke Lab Azad Hain Tere” by Faiz Ahmed Faiz. Sabah Azad was criticized for his participation in the protests after a post on social media went viral claiming that the protest was to celebrate the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from Jammu and Kashmir.
