Sabyasachi Mukherjee is an Indian fashion designer, jewellery designer and couturier. He is one of the youngest board members of the National Museum of Cinema, India.

Sabyasachi Mukherjee was born on Saturday, February 23, 1974, in Kolkata (50 years old in 2024). His zodiac sign is Pisces. Sabyasachi grew up in Maniktala, West Bengal. He attended Sri Aurobindo Vidyamandir School in Kolkata and then went to St. Xavier’s College for further studies. At the age of 15, his father lost his job. While in college, Sabyasachi wanted to become a fashion designer, but his parents were not happy with his decision and instead, they wanted him to become a doctor. So, he sold his books and paid for admission. Mukherjee passed the exams and pursued a fashion course at NIFT.

After graduating from NIFT, Sabyasachi opened a small workshop and founded his own brand ‘Sabyasachi’ (1999) with only three employees. After two years of hard work, he won the ‘Best Young Indian Designer Award’ from the British Council in 2001. He then moved to London to intern under the eclectic designer ‘Georgina von Etzdorf’ in Salisbury. He then made his international debut with the ‘Grand Prize Winner Award’ at the Mercedes Benz New Asia Fashion Week in Singapore (2003). Later, he opened his workshop in Paris designed by ‘Jean Paul Gaultier’ and ‘Azzedine Alaia’. In 2006, Sabyasachi launched his ‘Spring/Summer 07’ collection at the New York Fashion Week. This earned him critical acclaim and his brand began to be sold worldwide. Sabyasachi has styled many Bollywood films including ‘Black’, ‘Babur’, ‘Love Story’, ‘Ravana’, ‘Guzaarish’, ‘Daddy’ and ‘Hinglish’. His celebrity clients include Rani Mukerji, Sridevi, Tabu, Shabana Azmi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone etc. Apart from clothing, he has also started his own jewellery line. Sabyasachi recently launched his children’s line ‘Chota Sabya’.
