In 2020, Sadia Khateeb made her acting debut with the film Shikara, in which she played the role of Shanti, a medical student from Jammu and Kashmir. In the film, she is married to a Kashmiri Pandit professor. The film tells the love story of a Kashmiri Pandit couple during their escape from the Kashmir Valley in the 1990s. Her performance in the film received critical acclaim shortly after its release; however, the film failed at the box office.

Director Indu Sharma called her and informed her that she had been selected by Vidhu Vinod Chopra to play the lead role in the film.
