Safest place in UK to be if World War 3 erupts REVEALED – but bomb-proof haven can only save 90 people

It has been revealed to be the safest place in the UK if World War Three breaks out – but it can only hold 90 people.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 has fueled fears of global war, but ongoing conflicts involving Iran and the Middle East, China and Taiwan and North Korea have the world holding its breath.

Many fear that the crisis in Ukraine could continue to develop, with officials warning that it could be Europe’s bloodiest conflict since World War II if it results in a nuclear war.

General Sir Patrick Sanders, the Chief of the General Staff, recently said the British could even face being called up if the UK went to war with Russia.

Meanwhile, the Middle East has become a powder keg agitated by Israel’s ongoing war against Hamas, attacks by Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in the Red Sea, and recent clashes and strikes between Iran and Pakistan.

And NATO recently announced its biggest call-up in decades as 90,000 troops prepare to begin World War III exercises.

However, if a real World War III breaks out, one place in the UK will be the safest.

Wood Norton, a network of tunnels that runs deep into the Worcestershire forest, has only a small radio mast and a safety banner visible from ground level.

Bosses have previously drawn up detailed plans for the War Broadcasting System, which is designed to operate from Wood Norton if nuclear inferno descends on Britain.

The BBC’s headquarters would be a bunker at the Engineer Training Division in Wood Norton, where 90 staff would broadcast government-controlled broadcasts.

It is currently used as a training base for sound engineers and technical staff in a radio and television company.

But its mast would continue to broadcast messages from the BBC if the UK ever entered a crisis phase.

Also called PAWN, Wood Norton Conservation Area, the site boasts several floors of architecture underground.

BBC documents released in 2016 revealed that the base would be used in the event of a serious attack on the UK.

The facility can reportedly accommodate 90 BBC staff – including 12 news editors and assistant editors – and is even equipped with a table tennis table.

Known as the “War Book,” the now-discarded Cold War plans called for 11 scattered bunkers to serve as new bases of operations.

Bomb-proof safe havens scattered across Britain could protect government ministers as radiation seeped into the country.

But the BBC also had a studio in each of those bunkers, with five staff per studio on standby to relay the news to those who might be listening in the nuclear wasteland.

GLOBAL CONFLICT

With reports of Putin’s health deteriorating, there are fears he may turn to nuclear weapons out of desperation.

Since then, Ukraine has fought bravely and continued to defy the odds by defending itself against Russian attacks with the help of Western military aid.

In November 2022, World War II tensions rose after it was reported that Russian-made missiles had crossed into Poland, a NATO country.

Although the stray missile was likely fired by Ukraine as it defended its territory against a Russian attack, the incident marked the first time a NATO country had been hit during Russia’s war in Ukraine.

North Korea is also poised to pounce on the West as Putin’s alliance with deranged leader Kim Jong-Un continues to grow.

Just weeks ago, Putin fired North Korean missiles into Ukraine, killing hundreds in an unprecedented development.

But Kim also threatened to start his own war after branding South Korea as his “main enemy” – adding that the nuclear weapons at his disposal should not be ignored.

It came just days after his sister and prominent ally – Kim Yo-Jong – vowed to launch an “immediate military strike” on neighboring South Korea at the “slightest provocation”.

Fear of a possible Chinese invasion of Taiwan continues to grow across the Asian continent.

Beijing has already threatened to trigger “uncontrolled escalation” and all-out war over a “misunderstanding” as President Xi Jinping seeks to assert his authority.

China considers the self-ruled island of Taiwan part of its territory – and has vowed to take it by force if necessary, staging increasingly regular invasion tests.

In the Middle East, Israel’s ongoing war with the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas has increased the threat from Iran in recent months.

Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Lebanon are drawn into the conflict, as are Great Britain and the United States.

And Iran’s proxies for terrorism – including Hezbollah and the Houthis – have already moved against Israel, the US and the UK.

But after Iran attacked targets inside Pakistan with drones and bomb-carrying missiles, fears of an all-out war in the Middle East have never been greater.
