Sagarika Ghose started her career in journalism in 1992. In the early stages of her career, she worked for various print media in India including The Times of India, Outlook Magazine and The Indian Express. Later, she started working in broadcast media where she was initially appointed as the deputy editor and prime-time anchor for the news network CNN-IBN.

In July 2014, Sagarika Ghose resigned as deputy editor of CNN-IBN after the news channel was acquired by Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Limited. Soon after, she started working as a consulting editor at The Times of India. In 2013, she made headlines when she interviewed Janata Dal candidate Arvind Kejriwal on a social media platform. This is the first time a potential political candidate has been interviewed on social media during an Indian general election. In 2017, she published a book about Indira Gandhi called “Indira: India’s Most Powerful Prime Minister,” a biography of Indira Gandhi.

Sagarika Ghose interviewed Hindu spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on his show titled “Join Us Tonight” on November 9, 2011 on the topic “Should spiritual leaders be involved in the anti-corruption movement? ” She asked him various questions on the show and in return criticized and contradicted his answers. The “CNN-IBN Live” program was broadcast on video as Ravi Shankar appeared on the screen. He was also interviewed the day before the actual interview, and his statements were edited and broadcast on television as answers to Goss’s live questions. The move was later criticized, and Goss joined CNN-IBN in formally apologizing, saying it was due to “technical issues.”
