Salma Hayek Remembers Her ‘Special Bond’ with Fools Rush In Costar Matthew Perry After His ‘Shocking’ Death

Salma Hayek Pinault pays tribute to Matthew Perry after his sudden death.

The actress acted opposite Friends alum in the 1997 comedy Fools hurry, about two strangers who have a one-night stand in Las Vegas that results in a pregnancy.

Perry, 54, was found dead at his home in Los Angeles on Saturday.

“Two days ago I woke up to the shocking news that Matthew Perry is no longer with us. It took me a few days to process this deep sadness,” Hayek Pinault, 57, wrote on Instagram Monday, sharing her throwback photos. with Perry.

“There’s a special bond that happens when you share dreams with someone and work towards them together,” she continued. “I was very touched last year when Matthew shared how much he loved him on his Instagram stories Fools Rush Inand how he thought that the film we did together was probably his best film.”

The actress said she has stayed in touch with Perry since filming Fools Rush In.

On Sunday, Perry’s family said in a statement to PEOPLE that they are “heartbroken” by his “tragic” death.

“We are heartbroken at the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and as a friend,” they said. “You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the huge outpouring of love.”

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to PEOPLE on Sunday that an autopsy has been completed and the results are pending a toxicology report. The LAPD’s Robbery and Homicide Division is conducting an ongoing investigation into Perry’s death and “foul play is not suspected at this time.”
