Career
Sam started his rookie career in 2007 and lost his first amateur fight by TKO in the second round. He made his official MMA debut in July 2008, having previously fought for Bellator, King of the Cage, and MFC. At Bellator 45, he made his middleweight debut against future Bellator light heavyweight tournament champion Karl Amoussou. Alvey was then selected to compete in The Ultimate Fighter: Team Carwin vs. Team Nelson, where he fought in the lightweight category for the first fight.
Alvey also competed in the MFC, making his UFC debut against Elvis Mutapčić, whom he defeated at MFC 36.
