The couple spent Christmas apart and now it has been confirmed that they have called it quits after a ‘difficult year’.
A source close to the couple told MailOnline: “Sam and Zara have ended their relationship. It was an incredibly difficult decision for them to split up, they still care and have a lot of love for each other.
“But after a hard year of working hard on their romance, they have split and will focus on their individual careers in 2025.
“There was no scandal or conflict between them, it’s just the result of a difficult year, in which they both had to spend a lot of time focused on their own projects.”
Following the split, Sam joined some of his Made In Chelsea pals as he enjoyed a wild New Year while his ex-girlfriend Zara McDermott stayed at their Chelsea home.
The TV star, 32, was seen in the pub making a toast while Reza Amiri-Garroussi filmed.
Sam and Reza were joined by a group of friends at Kensington Rooftop Gardens, including MIC star JP.
In his speech, I’m A Celeb winner Sam told fans it would be a “night to remember” as he told his reality pals how happy he was to spend the New Year with them.
The evening started off with casual drinks, but Reza filmed things escalating as they partied at the posh bar as the clock struck midnight.
But while Sam was at the party, Zara McDermott stayed at home with her cat and took a photo with the caption “Happy New Year”.
Shocking moment. Sam Thompson almost swung from a pole in the low light from a Christmas party with Pete Wicks
While Zara may have spent her New Year’s Eve as a quiet night, her career is predicted to take off in 2025.
Zara, who rose to fame on Love Island 2018, appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, partnered with L’Oréal and launched her clothing collection, Rise, with Tesco.
She also fronted a documentary entitled Ibiza: Secrets of the Party Island over the summer exploring what makes Ibiza so attractive.
In October, it was announced that she had filmed a brand new two-part BBC documentary exploring the impact of stalking, further establishing herself as a force to be reckoned with.
She has also amassed a significant fortune according to her latest accounts with Companies House, which saw her wealth jump from £142,726 to £309,913 within 12 months.
Experts say she is becoming “one to watch” – and could even be “the next Maya Jama”.
