Sanjay Gadhvi (1965-2023) was an Indian film director and writer. He is known for directing the films Dhoom (2004) and Dhoom: 2 (2006). He died of a heart attack on November 19, 2023.

Profession
Sanjay Gadhvi started his career as an assistant director in Anant Balani’s Patthar Ke Phool (1991), directed by Sa Starring Salman Khan. Later, he assisted Barani in two more films.
He made his directorial debut with the film Tu Hi Bataa, starring Arjun Rampal and Raveena Tandon. But due to some budget issues, the film was shelved. Later, he directed the film Tere Liye (2000), which failed at the box office.
In 2002, he served as the director and screenwriter of the film “Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai”. He rose to fame by directing the film Dhoom (2004). He later also directed the sequel of the film Dhoom: 2 (2006) starring Hrithik Roshan.
However, he later quit the banner for the film’s second sequel, Dhoom: 3. In 2008, he directed the movie “Kidnapping”. He also wrote the dialogue for the film. In 2012, he served as director of the film Ajab Gazabb Love. His last film as a director was Operation Parindey (2020) starring Amit Sadh. The film is being streamed on OTT platform ZEE5.
Besides making movies, he also tried his hand at acting. In 2017, he appeared in the Hindi film “Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi” as Balvinder Tondon.

Lawsuit against Sanjay Gadhvi
In June 2010, an Indian film company called “Studio 18” filed a lawsuit against Sanjay Gadevi in the Delhi High Court. The film company claimed that they signed a two-film contract with Gadvi in January 2008, for which they paid an advance of Rs 4 crore. In October 2008, the company approved their first film “7 Days in Paris”, but Sanjay Gadevi failed to deliver the script as scheduled. The company claimed that it faced a loss of Rs 52 crore due to delays caused by Gadvi.

Sanjay Ghadvi passed away on November 19, 2023 due to a heart attack. According to some reports, Gadevi was attacked while walking in Lokhandwala in the morning when he felt chest pain. He was rushed to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital where doctors declared his condition. He was cremated on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Oshiwara Crematorium, Mumbai. Many Bollywood celebrities and other big names from various fields have condoled his death, including Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Uday Chopra, Hrithik Roshan and Meena Iyer.

- In an interview, he revealed that Kumar Mangalam Birla was a popular industrialist who was his classmate and Vivek Vaswani ) is an actor and filmmaker who is his senior student.
- In an interview, he talked about not being a part of ‘Dhoom 3’, the second sequel of the Dhoom film series. He said,
I try to make films in a variety of genres because the process itself is so much fun. Every movie makes you understand yourself better, so why repeat it? If this was my idea, I would have made Dhoom 3. I want to move on and explore other things. “
