Sanjay Phogat (1971-2016) was an Indian politician. He is the husband of actor and BJP politician Sonali Phogat. He died on December 16, 2016, in Hisar, Haryana. The cause of his death has not yet been revealed.

On December 16, 2016, Hisar police found the body of Sanjay Phogat at his farmhouse. The farmhouse is located about 10 kilometers from his home under mysterious circumstances. Authorities have not revealed the exact cause of his death; however, many sources claim that Sanjay Phogat’s body was found with foam coming from his mouth. They also claimed that Sanjay was either murdered or committed suicide. According to some media sources, the suicide note was written by him, but the police never found it at the scene. His brother said in an interview that Sanjay Phogat had a phone call with his family before going to bed on the night of December 16, 2016. He said,
He talked to us before going to bed. Then he was completely healed. In the morning we received a call from a family member who was farming on their land, asking us to rush to the scene immediately because something bad had happened. When we reached the farmhouse, Sanjay was dead and the police were at the scene. We don’t think anything malicious happened. Rest and wait for the autopsy report to arrive. “

- In an interview, Sonali Phogat claimed that her husband has always supported her and wanted her to pursue her dreams. She said,
My husband has always been there for me…my biggest motivation. If he hadn’t been there, I wouldn’t be where I am now. After he died, I wanted to leave everything behind and leave. But my mother-in-law inspired me and reminded me of his dreams and how he wanted me to succeed. “
- Speaking about her husband’s death, Sonali Phogat denied all conspiracies surrounding her husband’s death and said that Sanjay Phogat was neither murdered nor committed suicide. Talking about the incident, she said:
I don’t know where people come up with stories like this. He died of natural causes and if something went wrong the police would have revealed it to us. Nothing is more important than this. “
