Sanjiv Mehta was born on December 14, 1963 in Mumbai, India, to Pravin P. Mehta. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Churchgate Human Resources College, Mumbai. He was instrumental in leading SBIPL, a company with revenue of Rs. 50 Crores to Rupees. It peaked at Rs 1,200 crore.

After graduating from Mumbai, Sanjiv Mehta joined the then family business i.e. M/s. Shah Brothers is a partnership between two different families, Shah and Mehta.
