“I remember my childhood as Dickensian,” said Sarah The The New York Times 2000. ”I remember being poor. There was no great way to hide it. Sometimes we had no electricity. Sometimes we didn’t have Christmas… or the collectors came…”

Sarah said that Barbra always encouraged her children to be creative, taking them to museums and enrolling them in art classes.

“She [my mother] wanted to raise a family that has great and important lives,” the actress continued. “It was weird because we were living in all this chaos, but her image was actually a big motivator.”
Many of Parker and Forste’s children acted professionally when they were young. Rachel, Timothy, Andrew and Sarah appeared together in The sound of music 1977, and Sarah got the lead role Annie on Broadway in 1979 when she was 14 years old.
“I would like to say that I was absolutely not an acting mother,” said Barbra The New York Times 2000. “But on some level I am. What the kids did was pretty much under our control. But all the kids who didn’t want to act didn’t.”
