Sarah Paulson Teaches Jimmy Fallon How to Warm Up His Voice for Theater as He Jokes He’s ‘Having a Heart Attack’

Sarah Paulson shares her theater knowledge with Jimmy Fallon.

The 49-year-old actress — who is currently starring in a Broadway play called Appropriate — the TV host demonstrated in Friday’s episode Tonight’s show how he warms up his vocal cords before going on stage.

“We’ll start with the lips,” she said, to which Fallon replied, “Okay.”

Paulson then began performing lip movements while Fallon and the rest of the audience looked on. “Okay, now I want, ‘La la, gaga, la la, gaga, la la la,'” she announced, and the host hilariously followed suit, mouthing the words.

However, Fallon seemed to have trouble following along and got his words mixed up, prompting the actress to say, “No, it’s not good.” She then had him try another tongue twister, telling him to recite “lips, teeth, tip of tongue” before doing it backwards.

“You can do it,” Paulson encouraged him. Despite Fallon not getting the phrase right, the actress told him to try “faster.” He seemed to be trying to follow her lead before slurring his words. By the end of the segment he resorted to reciting random words, which did American Horror Story the actress started laughing.

“I’m having a heart attack,” Fallon joked before dramatically falling to the ground in front of her.

“This is what happens if you don’t train properly and don’t breathe with your diaphragm,” she told the audience, as Fallon yelled, “We’re ready for Broadway!”

A few people close to the American Criminal the actress has celebrated her work on the stage since her play premiered in December.

Paulson celebrated the play’s premiere with her co-star Holland Taylor the day after the premiere. She shared a photo of herself and Taylor, 80, laughing together at The Yard House Times Square in New York.

“On nights like this I was usually separated from myself. Not this time,” Paulson wrote in the description. “He deserves a network.”

Her friends Pedro Pascal, Bradley Cooper, Amber Tamblyn, Judith Light, Courteney Cox, Zachary Quinto and more were photographed attending the show, which also stars Corey Stoll and Michael Esper.
