Saturday Night Star Finn Wolfhard Details What His Dream SNL Hosting Gig Would Look Like (Exclusive)

Finn Wolfhard dreams of one day moving on Saturday night livestage Studio 8H.

In an exclusive chat with PEOPLE while promoting his partnership with Ringo, the 21-year-old actor also talks about his role in Saturday night and what about his dream SNL hosting a gig would look like.

Thinking about SNL At a moment he would like to recreate or give a new beat, Wolfhard points to the Underground Rock Festival sketch, which followed a hardcore rock and rap festival hosted by DJ Supersoak (Jason Sudeikis) and Lil’ Blaster (Nasim Pedrad).

“They were hosting this horrible metal festival and they would do themed commercials announcing the lineup,” says Wolfhard. “I watched it recently and I thought it was so funny because it’s just an excuse to basically name a bunch of random bands. I think that skit would be really funny to bring back.”

As for your dream musical guest, should you ever host one SNLthe Stranger Things star says, “I think it would be fun to have an indie rock band or an alt band from the ’90s. I think that would be cool.”

Wolfhard’s latest film role was directed by Jason Reitman and follows 90 Minutes Before SNL it was first broadcast live on October 11, 1975.

The project stars Gabriel LaBelle SNL creator Lorne Michaels, with Dylan O’Brien as Dan Aykroyd, Cory Michael Smith as Chevy Chase and Lamorne Morris as Garrett Morris. The main cast consists of Ella Hunt as Gilda Radner, Emily Fairn as Laraine Newman, Kim Matula as Jane Curtin and Matt Wood as John Belushi.

Except on SNL cast, the film includes some big names such as Nicholas Podany as Billy Crystal, Nicholas Braun as Jim Henson, Kaia Gerber as Jacqueline Carlin, Rachel Sennott as Rosie Shuster, son of the late Philip Seymour Hoffman Cooper Hoffman as Dick Ebersol, Jon Batiste as a musician Billy Preston, Willem Dafoe as David Tebet and JK Simmons as Milton Berle.

According to Wolfhard, to act Saturday night is a passion project that he is really excited about.

“I was lucky enough to be a part of that movie and play on the NBC site,” the actor says of his role.

“Jason Reitman, who I’m good friends with, was kind enough to let me participate in the making of that movie,” he continues of the director, with whom he previously worked on 2021. Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

“I’m really proud to be in the scenes that I’m in, and I’m very proud to be a part of a movie like that and to be a part of a cast that’s so great,” adds Wolfhard.

Saturday night it’s in theaters now. Saturday night live airs weekends at 11:30 PM ET on NBC.
