Facts/Trivia
- Talking about Saurabh in an interview, his personal trainer Amit Sheoran said:
When he started shooting in 2014, we only had a few pistols. So it’s not possible for everyone to shoot. Therefore, students regularly practice poses and strengthen their hands and wrists. I told him to wring the wet sack twice a day because as a kid, if you wring it more, your hands would start to shake. But he would do it four times in the morning and the same thing in the evening. He is incredible. No fans. Other kids would stop practicing on muggy summer afternoons. Not Saurabh. He was only 13 years old at the time and was sweating profusely, but he still insisted on filming. He always remains focused and calm, like a monk. “
- When Saurabh started training at the Veer Shahmal Rifle Club in Binauli, Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, he didn’t have his own pistol. His father said in an interview
We don’t have the wherewithal to buy him a pistol worth Rs. Two hundred thousand, so we took out a loan and bought a pistol. “
Saurabh’s brother Nitin said about the incident in an interview:
Our family discussed it and decided to buy it. Saurabh now has two pistols, but he only shoots with the first one. After returning from training, he also wants to train at home. There were too many people at the driving range, and he was always dissatisfied. So we decided to make this range between two rooms. “
- In an interview, Saurabh’s brother revealed that Saurabh used to practice shooting at home late at night. He further said,
The sound of a pistol disturbs everyone. Neighbors would come over the next morning to ask what happened at night, but gradually everyone got used to it. “
- After winning the gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games, Saurabh said in an interview,
Subah sochke nikla tha, jo hoga dekha jaaega. If I had been thinking, or if I had something on my mind, I wouldn’t have gotten this medal. I knew these guys were big shooters, but I’d never seen them. I didn’t really have any role models in terms of shooting. I just try to make myself better. “
- In 2018, he won the Asian Games and many Indian celebrities congratulated him through their social media accounts. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Saurabh in one of his tweets.
- In an interview, when talking about Saurabh, his father said:
Uski Dunya Usk Dimag Andal Sea [his world is in his mind]. Even we don’t fully understand Him and His nature. All he needs is his pistol and the shooting range, that’s all he cares about. He doesn’t care about anything, even if you sit behind him while he trains, it doesn’t affect him. He’s been practicing and you can’t tell by looking at his face whether a shot is good or bad. “
- Saurabh Chaudhary was included in the 2020 Forbes 30 Under 30 list.
- He follows a vegetarian diet.
- In an interview, Saurabh shared what he likes to do in his free time. He said,
I like farming. We didn’t have much time to train, but whenever I had a break, I would go back to my village (Kalina) and help my father. I didn’t feel any pressure. I love to draw, prefer to stay away from my phone, and divide my day into parts. Morning yoga, then breakfast, then shooting. I started shooting because I loved handguns. “
- Saurabh appears on the cover of the April 2021 edition of the digital magazine ‘Kreeda 360’.
