Delhi School News: The Department of Education (DoE) recently issued a circular stating that schools in Delhi should have at least 220 working days in an academic year. The required number of working days is in accordance with the guidelines of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF).

“According to Section 19 of RTE Act-2009 and National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023, it is mandatory for all schools operating under the Directorate of Education to observe a minimum of 220 working days in an academic year taking into account the published lists of official/restricted/local holidays for the calendar year (from January to December)”, the circular states.

The order states that before the start of the school year and the planning of holidays, school principals must ensure that they have worked 220 working days.

Unaided schools require management approval for holidays

“District Education Officers (DDEs) are also advised to ensure strict compliance of the same before sanctioning restricted/local holidays to any school under their jurisdiction. Besides, recognized unaided schools would also get holiday approval from their management,” DoE said.

UP schools will reduce study hours

Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government will introduce changes in school timetables. According to the new education policy, the Government is ready to reduce the hours of study in schools. According to reports, the schools will have a total of 29 hours of classes per week, with classes taking place between 5 and 5.5 hours Monday through Friday.

Schools also have a maximum time limit for classes. According to the new educational policy, the maximum duration of classes for general subjects will be between 45 and 35 minutes, while classes for major subjects will last 50 minutes.
