Selena Gomez Has a Marilyn Moment on the 2024 Globes Red Carpet – Plus, More Wind-Swept Stars in Chilly L.A.

Selena Gomez didn’t need the wind to create her real-life Marilyn Monroe moment on Sunday’s 2024 Golden Globes red carpet — nature was on her side.

Gomez, who is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Comedy or Musical, for her role as Mabel Mora in Just the murders in the buildingshe walked the red carpet in a beautiful red Giorgio Armani dress.

The design was striking in its own right thanks to the asymmetrical hemline and black detailing, including cutouts at the front that were accented with rosettes, along with black lining peeking out from under the skirt, but the unusually windy weather in Los Angeles added a whole new level of drama to the vibrant look with more dashes.

During her red carpet walk, Gomez stopped to pose for photos, and one photographer can then be heard telling her she’s “working on the wind” in a video he shared Vogue on Instagram. The “Single Soon” singer smiled as the wind caught her hem leading to her embracing her Marilyn moment as the dress rode up around her knees as she modestly tried to keep it in place.

Gomez wasn’t the only Hollywood star to have a tumultuous moment at the Globes. From Heidi Klum to Jennifer Aniston, the windy weather worked its magic on several celebs who wore particularly breezy looks to the ceremony.

Pugh, who was nominated for her role in the five-time Golden Globe winner Oppenheimer, arrived at the Golden Globes in a sheer, red Valentino dress with floral details. Add to that her impressive platinum faux hawk and A good person the actress was already looking glamorous and then came the wind which added a little extra drama.

In one photo from the evening, Pugh kept a neutral expression as the wind caught the train of her Valentino gown, creating the illusion that she was walking into the wind as she walked the red carpet.

in 1923 Breakout star Nieves also had a standout moment on the red carpet. The up-and-coming actress wore a lavender striped dress with a long cobweb train that was made all the more impressive by the LA weather as the breeze caught the sheer fabric and made it flutter to her side as she stopped for pictures.

Jennifer Aniston

As stunning as Aniston’s black Dolce & Gabbana dress was, all eyes were on her new, shorter hairdo, which bears an uncanny resemblance to her famous Rachel ‘do from Friends. Even the breezy weather seemed to work in favor of her renewed throwback look as the wind dropped Morning show the star’s fresh hair skillfully tousled on the red carpet.

Klum channeled her modeling days by turning the red carpet into her own runway in her strapless red Sophie Couture gown, which featured stunning cleavage and a voluminous skirt. America has talent the judge made the wind work for her as he caught both her crimson skirt and wavy blonde hair.

The fashionista stopped by the red carpet to talk to PEOPLE about her look. “I like the color and the puff,” she said. “I like to be blonde and wear red. I immediately liked it and said ‘that’s the one’.”

Schafer’s gorgeous light pink dress was made for the glittering red carpet. Her dress had flowing silk accents that created an ethereal look as the wind caught the material causing it to fall around her.

The long trains weren’t the only odds affected by Sunday’s windy conditions. Russell, who was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Diplomatshe wore a white flapper-style dress to the event with tassels from the waist down.
