“Through liberating song and dance and bold visuals, this odyssey follows the journey of four extraordinary women in Mexico, each searching for their own happiness,” reads the film’s synopsis.

“The fearsome cartel leader Emilia enlists Rita (Saldaña), an underrated lawyer stuck in a dead end job, to help her fake her death so that Emilia can finally live authentically as the real her.”

At the event, the Rare Beauty founder spoke with PEOPLE about her character Jessa Del Monte, the wife of drug cartel leader Emilio Pérez (Gascón), who tries to fake her death “so that Emilia can finally live authentically as the real her.” as the synopsis says.
