Selena Gomez Says It’s 'Not Shameful' to Disclose That She Can’t Carry Kids and Has Bipolar Disorder

Selena Gomez has a message for her critics: vulnerability is no shame.

In an impassioned speech at a recent event, the actress and singer, 32, spoke about her decision to speak openly about her inability to carry children and her mental health issues – and told haters to “f*ck you off”.

“I truly believe there is power in being vulnerable and telling people when you need help, when you want help,” Gomez said as her younger sister Gracie Elliott Teefey sat next to her, footage from the event showed.

“It’s not a shame. Well, yes, I said I can’t carry a child. Yes, I said I have bipolar disorder. F— off. That’s my life,” she added while the others present clapped in agreement.

Gomez went on to say that she wants to “advocate for women, and that’s why I’m sharing it. That’s why I like to be honest – because everyone goes through something.”

“I don’t have it all together. … I am me. And that’s all I can be,” she continued, before addressing someone off-screen, saying, “So don’t ever let anyone tell you that you’re not a good person, that you’re not kind, that you don’t treat people with respect. ”

Returning to the vulnerability, Gomez said, “Because that’s not pathetic, that’s great of you.”

“And that’s a fact,” she concluded. “So screw anyone who tells you that you’re a victim. You’re a survivor in my book.”
