Pretty Little Liars will not return for season three.
According to the report from Diversity announced on Friday, September 20, Max will not be renewing the reboot series, inspired by the Freeform original series that ran from 2010 to 2017.
The first season of the new series, subtitled “Original Sin”, premiered on Max in 2022, and the second season, subtitled “Summer School”, debuted on the platform in May 2024.
The statement he received Diversity from the streaming service thanked the show’s creators for “reintroducing fans to this new iteration of Liars.”

Television, for reintroducing fans to this new iteration of liars who team up to take on the latest chilling villain, the terrifying Millwood,” Max wrote in a statement. “Their unique and modern creative vision—combined with the immense talent of our cast and crew—gave is a fun, horror-filled take on the series that pays homage to its original Rosewood roots.”

The new series stars Bailee Madison, Chandler Kinney, Zaria, Malia Pyles, Maia Reficco, Mallory Bechtel, Sharon Leal, Alex Aiono, Jordan Gonzalez and Elias Kacavas.
“Following the shocking events from Pretty Little Liars: Original Sinour Pretty Little Liars face a fate worse than death — summer school. However, Millwood High isn’t the only thing standing in the way of their fun summer jobs and new dream love interests. A new villain, who may or may not be related to A, has come to town and is going to put them all to the test,” read the season two synopsis.

This is not the first spinoff inspired by the original Pretty Little Liars series — Ravenswood and Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists aired on Freeform (formerly ABC Family) before both were canceled after one season.
Following news of the latest series’ cancellation, several of its cast members shared posts on social media to reflect on their time on the show.

“This show has changed my life and put so many bright souls in my path,” actress Malia Pyles wrote in an X post alongside a photo of the cast. “Forever grateful for Pretty Little Liars and for everyone involved in its revival.
