Ahead of Rapp’s final episode of the comedy series Max , which premiered Nov. 28, Scott, 27, spoke with PEOPLE about the show’s highly anticipated third season and got emotional as she reflected on the deep bond she and Rapp, 24, have forged since meeting in the 2021 show.

“I mean, there are no words. It’s just, like, going through an experience with someone who’s a stranger to you, who quickly becomes one of the most important people in your life, it’s so rare and so special,” she says.
“I’m forever grateful that we had this experience on this show to start a friendship,” she continues. “What a crazy start to a friendship. And we’re forever connected in this weird, wacky way. But we had this experience that no one ever had—this specific experience, at least.”
After wiping away tears, Scott jokes that when she and Rapp were promoting season two, “We couldn’t do a single interview without crying.”
“It was very Ariana [Grande] and Cynthia [Erivo] — a very theatrical kid of ours — to say, ‘We just really love each other.’ But it’s true,” she says, comparing their emotions to interviews that went viral in which Grande and Erivo promoted Wicked.

“There’s something about this job that’s so revealing and you show up every day in whatever state you’re in, whatever’s going on in your personal life. [You] you show up and work and hold each other through it and nobody else really knows what’s going on, but you do. And there’s something so specific about having someone hold you in that space that makes you cry in every interview you do.”

Because of the close bond they’ve formed outside of the show, saying goodbye to Rapp on her last day on set wasn’t as difficult as it might have been for Scott.
“That one was a little harder for me because as much as I was sad to say goodbye to her, I never felt like I was actually saying goodbye because we literally live three minutes away from each other, so I said, ‘I’m the one crying because you’re not going to be at work, I guess, but see you at home,’ he recalls.

However, the actress who portrays Whitney in the series says that the farewell scene is “very important” for her character and for Bela (Amrit Kaur) and Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet).
“I think all of that makes us realize that this time and this space isn’t forever… And I think playing that emotion was very cathartic and bittersweet.”
