In 2022, Shankar represented the Maharashtra team in the 36th National Games of India held in Gujarat. He captained the entire competition and won a silver medal in the final. He then represented the Ahmednagar district in the 70th Maharashtra Senior Men’s and Women’s Kabaddi Championship and won the ‘Best Performer of the Tournament’ award.
In the same year, he represented Maharashtra in the 69th National Senior Kabaddi Championship and won a silver medal. - No one in Shankar’s family was well-educated and all belonged to the working class. Shankar wanted to learn more and play kabaddi. Although he started playing Kabaddi from a young age; however, after he completed his seventh standard, he started going to the Kabaddi Academy located in his village and that’s how he turned professional. Eventually, he began funding his studies and was accepted into a university.
- He used to work on the farm while learning Kabaddi side by side. Shankar used to come out of the farm at 5 pm and go to practice. He used to work as a laborer in the sugarcane fields, earning 300 rupees a day.
