The Shantanu Muluk Case – How Shantanu Got Involved in the Toolkit Conspiracy?
It all started after Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg posted a “Toolkit” document on the American microblogging and social networking service Twitter in support of the ongoing agricultural protest on February 3, 2021. Reports indicate that the document was created by Indian activists Disha Ravi, Shantanu Muluk, and Nikita Jacob for spreading discontent and tension towards Indian secularism[1]NDTV.
Disha Ravi, a key accused in the infamous Toolkit case, was arrested in February 2021. However, a day later a non-bailable warrant was issued against Shantanu and Nikita, who were found guilty of editing and producing the Toolkit document and being in direct contact with Pro -Khalist elements. However, according to recent media updates, Shantanu Muluku has been granted transit bail for approximately ten days by Justice Vibha Kankanwadi of the Bombay High Court to enable him file a defense application before a court in Delhi[3]India today.
In his plea to the Bombay High Court, Muluk argued that his intention to help Farmer’s protest was bona fide. He also said that he was helping the real dissidents (farmers) to support them in their plea. He further argued that the case filed against him under Section 153-A (promoting enmity between different communities) violates the provisions of law in a democratic republic to raise voice against legitimate dissent.
