Sherri Shepherd has good reason not to trust Joy Behar with the hot topic!
While Shepherd and Behar remembered their late co-star Barbara Walters on Wednesday’s episode of the show Sherrithe discussion led to several years old, hot tea about View creator (who died in December 2022 at age 93) — which Behar relayed to Walters herself at the time.
“I’d tell you things and then you’d go and tell it. I’ve never said this before, but I’m going to tell it,” said Shepherd, 56. “I told Joy I ran into Paul Mooney and Paul Mooney said he got Barbara Walters with Richard Pryor.”
Behar, 81, then asked: “What do you mean? She slept with Richard Pryor?”
“Yeah, that’s what Paul Mooney said!” Shepherd said in response. “And I came back and I said, ‘Joy, guess what?’ When you talk like that, you know, don’t tell anyone.”

Behar admitted that she partially remembered the moment in question, and Shepherd continued, “I came and told you and I said that Paul Mooney said he caught Barbara with Richard Pryor. He walked in on them. And I said, ‘Don’t no don’t tell anyone.'”
“He came in … that’s what he said. He looked through the door,” Shepherd recalled. “Don’t act like you don’t remember. It was just me and Joy… ‘Don’t tell anyone.’ And the next day, Barbara enters and you [told her].”
Behar retorted, “I didn’t say your he told me!”
“But you say to Barbara, ‘So you did [sleeping with] Richard Pryor, huh?” Shepherd added. “She turned around. You know Barbara’s head would be spinning like that. She says, ‘Who told you that?’ I’m sitting there and I just got this job. And Joy, you’re doing it because you’re not afraid of Barbara.”

Behar then noted how Walters had a guy in her romantic life, noting that the late reporter at one point “dated a black senator.”
“It’s in her book,” Shepherd confirmed, adding, “You always said Barbara loved the chocolate man. She loved Colin Powell. Every time Colin Powell showed up, she was all the way over here.”
Behar agreed, “It’s true! She did. She loved her brother.”

Speaking about her friendship with Walters earlier this year, Shepherd recalled how fun dinners were with her former co-star – and the rich subject matter they discussed.
“For me, I related to Barbara’s sense of humor. I don’t think enough people really saw what a cheeky sense of humor Barbara had,” Shepherd told E! News in January, shortly after Walters’ death. “If she told me, didn’t ask, told me we were going to dinner, I would be shaking in my boots because I was just asking myself: ‘What have I done now? And why should we go to dinner?’ But when we would come to the restaurant, she was like a queen when she ordered things. But then we would talk, it was literal, she was my mom.”
Shepherd added: “We would talk and laugh. Literally, we could talk about sex all day – she had advice for days.”
